1943. Jenny McLeod almost died on the gruelling retreat from Burma. And so it is that Jenny, Bill Haines, and Ralph Bainbridge find themselves facing the German army on their slow and bloody retreat through Italy. The approaching end of the war finally brings hope, but as reports come in from the liberated concentration camps Jenny wonders if the end of the war will come too late for her family. Instead of peace will there be only hopelessness and despair for a lost family; and a lost love…
